Lets Chat Ali’l

The meet-up I attended was called Women’s Personal Finance Zoom Meetup. There I was with several other attendees. Four of them had already attended the previous class including the host and the other three were novices like myself. We played a game of two truths in a lie which I believe, is a fun icebreaker to loosen everyone up. After introductions and the icebreaker, we began the lesson. First, we discussed the basics of financial literacy such as, how to calculate your expenses, budgeting, & organizing your calendar to match your bills. We then discussed tools that can help us manage our spending tracking such as spreadsheets and a binder with pouches labeled with the expense. Lastly, we went back to discussing the eighty / twenty rule where you place eighty percent of your money into your savings and investments and use the twenty percent to pay for everything else. For the last thirty minutes, the instructor let us ask questions, though I did not have any but felt very open to asking if I did because of how welcoming they were. I decided not to speak up too much for this meetup and listen. I enjoyed myself and met a girl named Jazzy. She is twenty-nine during the icebreaker. I found out she lives near my job and she goes there to get drinks in the morning for her and her co-workers. What a small world! For my next meetup I would like to try an in-person meetup because it’s easier for me to talk to new people in person and it would be fun.
